Job summary

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Director of Production is responsible for directing the production department of the company as well as having a strategic leadership role in supporting the company in achieving its production growth objectives. He/she will have the mandate to develop, set up and manage both the team, the processes, as well as the tools under his/her responsibility, aimed at refining the workflows while ensuring that customer commitments are fulfilled as soon as possible and in an irreproachable manner. Active in all operations related to production (inventory management, production and logistics), he/she will make sure to optimize the inventory by collaborating with the Director of Operations.

Opsun is looking to recruit a Director with solid experience in achieving aggressive production targets by ensuring perfect planning of all operations under his control. He/she is an articulate communicator who can interact at all levels of the organization and will be able to establish credibility with the management team.

He/she will lead a team of 2 managers directly plus 15 workers in the production department

Candidate profile

Opsun is looking for a candidate who:

  • Has a bachelor's degree in applied science, engineering, operations management or other related field of training;
  • Has expertise in Lean Master continuous improvement and problem solving techniques;
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written, French speaking is a plus;
  • Has a strong sense of organization, planning and efficiency;
  • Manages priorities very well and adapts easily;
  • Has a spirit of analysis, synthesis and innovation;
  • Has good time management and the ability to gather information
  • Has advanced software experience:
  • Microsoft Office suite (or Google Docs suite)
  • ERP and MRP softwares

Requirements

The following skills will be considered an asset:
● 3 to 5 years of experience in production management, supply, logistics;
● Experience in a manufacturing environment;
● Knowledge of manufacturing processes (including extrusion and cutting, folding);
● Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to work under pressure;
● Knowledge in the field of manufacturing aluminum products
● Knowledge of management systems and continuous improvement.

Tasks

  • Plan, direct, control and evaluate the production of the operations center.
  • Direct and allocate the necessary resources to the inventory management and assembly and packaging production department.
  • Develop and implement schedules and programs to ensure production targets are met.
  • Supervision and support of the production team as well as the logistics team.
  • Organization / planning of production according to delivery requirements and supply.
  • Local and synchronized management of incoming and outgoing inventory in collaboration with the logistics department. (material reception and project delivery).
  • Management and optimization of floor space.
  • Plan and implement changes to the production system and work methods.
  • Establish, implement and improve production procedures.
  • Improve the workstations in the operations center to make them more efficient.
  • Work on the factory expansion plan for the next 5 years.
  • Prepare equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Hire and supervise floor staff and management team as required.
  • Communicate with the director of operations and the Quebec team to properly coordinate resources and requirements.
  • Implementation and maintenance of the quality control system and production report writing.
  • Extract and improve KPIs to improve production throughput and identify less efficient workstations.
  • Help set up and improve the enterprise and manufacturing resource planning system.
